1. Neckarsteiglauf 50km
The Neckarsteiglauf 50km is a trail ultramarathon beginning in Heidelberg, Germany, with 40 places. It covers the first 50 km of the Neckarsteig, a hiking route of approximately 126 km stretching from Heidelberg towards Bad Wimpfen. Entry is free, but it is not a casual run: the course ascends about 2,000 meters and features many trail sections, some steep and technical. This is a low-key, mountain-style event rather than a large city race, reflected in its field size. In a recent edition, only eight runners completed the course, with six men and two women in the results. The men’s winning time was just over six hours, and the women’s winning time was a little over eight hours, indicating how the terrain influences the race. The Deutsche Ultramarathon-Vereinigung e.V. organizes the event, with Gernot Wurst as the organizer.
