Schleizer Wisentalauf 2026

The Schleizer Wisentalauf, held in Schleiz, Thuringia in late September, begins near the Wisentaperle outdoor pool on Görkwitzer Unterweg. This road race offers several short distances: 10.8 km, 5.4 km, 2.7 km, along with children's and school runs of 1.6 km and 800 m. With an entry limit of around 250 participants, it has the feel of a community event rather than a large urban race. The course is flat and run in laps, simplifying the format. The 10.8 km event consists of four laps, the 5.4 km race uses two laps, and the 2.7 km Jedermann run is a single lap for participants aged 10 and older. The 800 m Bambini race is for children up to age 9. The longer children's race provides a separate start for school-aged runners before the adult races commence. Race timing is managed by race|result. The Wisentalauf also concludes the Saale-Orla-Läuferspokal series, meaning local club runners and series contenders participate alongside children, novice runners, and those running shorter distances.
