Sparkassen Metropolmarathon 2026

The Sparkassen Metropolmarathon takes place in Germany’s Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, focusing on Fürth and Nuremberg. Since 2007, Fürth has considered the Metropolmarathon its most significant sporting event, attracting approximately 9,000 participants over the weekend. This city race caters to a wide audience, not exclusively to marathon specialists. The current format makes the name literal by connecting Fürth and Nuremberg through the run. One year, the race proceeds from Fürth to Nuremberg; the following year, the direction is reversed. The course can begin near central Fürth at the Julius-Hirsch-Sportzentrum and conclude on Nuremberg’s Hauptmarkt. The motto “From the Cloverleaf to the Imperial Castle” highlights the dual city identity, representing Fürth’s cloverleaf emblem at one terminus and Nuremberg’s historic imperial landmark at the other.
