The Sparkassen Mini-Marathon is a youth race in Kassel, starting on Damaschkestraße by the Auestadion and Balance Fitness-Zentrum on a Saturday afternoon. It is intended for school-age children and teenagers, with a separate Mini-Half Marathon option for the youngest pupils. The main race is 4.219 km, and all participants finish inside the Auestadion.
The route goes through Karlsaue State Park, using the outer paths around the Hirschgraben and Küchengraben. Runners line up by ability at the start, then get timed with a one-gram EasyChip tied into their shoelaces, which they can keep afterward. Results are sorted by birth-year groups, and there is also a ten-runner team ranking, allowing schools and clubs to race together. At the finish, runners receive water and fruit.
