The Three Kings Ultra Trail is a winter trail-running event in Bavaria, held on Three Kings Day near Wiesent and Reichenbach am Regen. Participants select from three distances: the 73 km Ultra Trail with 1,610 meters of elevation gain, the 43 km Half Way Trail with 920 meters, or the 14 km Shorty Trail with 300 meters. Both start and finish are located in Reichenbach am Regen, ensuring even the shorter distance is integrated into the local trail environment.
The long course features natural trails and paths alongside streams, with numerous smaller ascents instead of a single large climb. It passes the Lobenstein and Siegenstein castle ruins, crosses the Otterbachtal valley, reaches Walhalla, then includes the Donaustauf castle ruins before following the Sulzbach stream back towards Reichenbach. This event is suited for trail runners seeking a cold-weather race with mud, water, old stone ruins, and options ranging from a short run to a marathon-plus distance or a full ultra. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Theo initiative for animal-assisted therapy.
