The Welzheimer Triathlon is a sprint-distance event held in Welzheim, Baden-Württemberg, organized by the TSF Welzheim triathlon department. It is intended for amateur and age-group athletes, with approximately 300 participants expected. This marks the 41st running of the event, typically scheduled for the first weekend in July, though dates may vary in certain circumstances.
The race format is concise: a 600-meter swim, a 23-kilometer bike leg, and a 7-kilometer run. Past events have seen around 340 athletes compete through challenging weather conditions. The swim provides an early opportunity to establish a lead, and the transition area demands efficiency. The finish line is located at Aichstrutsee, where competitors have been observed finishing at high pace. Jakob Heess, a TSG Roth athlete competing in the 2nd Triathlon-Bundesliga and formerly of VfL, has previously led all three segments of this race.
