Itxinan Barrena 2026

The Itxinan Barrena is a technical mountain race held in Bizkaia, within Spain's Basque Country. Race details place its event base around Zubiaur Plaza, in Orozko and Arrancudiaga. It takes place in October, offering participants two route options: a 34 km course with approximately 2,000 m of elevation gain, or a 14 km course with approximately 800 m of elevation gain. Both courses traverse Gorbea Natural Park and enter the Itxina massif, a rugged limestone region that the organizers consider one of the most challenging mountain environments in Euskal Herria. This is not a simple trail run; race materials emphasize the wild terrain and technical sections, with distinct PDF regulations available for each route. Registration is managed via Kronoak.
