Muntanyes de Prades is a mountain trail race series held in Prades, Tarragona, Spain, offering distances from short uphill runs to an ultramarathon. The series features a 7 km race with 300 m of elevation gain, a 13 km with 650 m, a 24 km with 1200 m, a 52 km with 2600 m, and a 78 km with 4100 m. A 90K/89 km UTMB Index race includes approximately 5000 m of gain. Held in November, it is suited for runners seeking steep, rocky Catalan mountain terrain over a fast, road-style event.
The longer routes traverse stony ground, forest paths, technical descents, and ascents within the Prades mountains, with runners noting views towards Montsant. One 78 km participant described the course as challenging and scenic, particularly after rain, highlighting the scree slope, the ascent to Tossal, and the final Baltasana section as memorable. The event provides practical support, including a full drop bag, coffee, and pre-race snacks, according to reviews. The 89 km race attracts a select ultrarunning field, with past frontrunners including Julen Calvo Vigara, Raul Octaviu Butaci, and Miguel Heras.
