Santa Cruz Extreme sends runners from the edge of Tenerife’s capital into Anaga Rural Park, with the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife waiting at the finish. This mountain and trail running series, usually run in October, offers several race lengths. The current program centers on 42K, 25K, 18K, and 10K options, while other listings have also described longer ultra formats such as a 60K with relay and pairs categories.
The routes use different starting points around Anaga: the 42K starts at Playa de Las Teresitas, the 25K at Plaza de Taganana, the 18K at Afur, and the 10K at Plaza de Catalanes. All distances finish at Explanada Puerto Ciudad, where awards are presented. The race area is the draw: Anaga offers runners steep mountain ground, coastal sections, small hamlets, peaks, and laurel forest, including routes through laurisilva woodland and the Afur area. A short vertical race with 500 steps up toward Parque de las Mesas adds a separate, punchy challenge for runners who want climbing without a long-distance trail course.
