Oulun Juoksu begins on Kuusisaari and concludes within Raatti Stadium in Oulu. Both the 5 km and 10 km races commence in the late morning. Oulun NMKY's Urheilijat organize the event, which is a district-approved competition, placing it on the local athletics schedule rather than as a casual fun run. The courses are officially measured and primarily follow paved bike paths, offering a clear route for participants aiming for a specific 5 km or 10 km time. Age categories range from open classes to older masters groups. Awards are presented only to the top five finishers in each distance, without separate age-group ceremonies. Participants have 90 minutes to complete the race for an official result. Entry includes access to Raatti swimming hall post-race. The event also includes the Academy Run Oulu for students and staff of educational institutions. Oulun Juoksu is in its 60th edition.
