La Saucataise is a trail running event held in Saucats, a village in Gironde located about 35 minutes from Bordeaux. Taking place in early October, it guides participants through the forests and paths surrounding the town. The event typically offers a 10 km and a 17 km trail race, alongside a nature walk. Its structure is intentionally inclusive, allowing experienced trail runners to select the longer route, while providing shorter, more accessible options for newcomers and walkers.
The race routes utilize woodland tracks and local trails, distinct from urban streets. Certain years have also featured a 5.2 km beginner race, a 5 km discovery walk, and children's races over brief distances, ensuring families and first-time participants are integral to the day. La Saucataise is also a component of the Challenge Montesquieu, a local series comprising six races, including Les Foulées Saint Selvaises and La Croisière des bons vins de La Brède. Participants receive awards upon finishing, and the event maintains a local, friendly atmosphere rather than a high-profile or elite one.
