Les Foulées Upiennes l'Hivernale is a January trail race held in Upie, a small village in the Drôme department of southeastern France. Participants can select from 9 km, 14 km, and 19 km routes. The 14 km distance is available as a solo run or a pairs event. Promo Sport 26 organizes the race. The winter timing is significant: participants should anticipate cold weather, around 7°C, making warm accessories more practical than thoughts of warmer climes.
The courses begin near the village hall and ascend the slopes of Miery. The routes are updated each year. The 14 km course features approximately 459 m of elevation gain, and the 9 km course has about 251 m. Both options offer genuine trail running. The race originated from Les Foulées Upiennes, an April event established in the 1990s for local runners and an early trail race in the area. It maintains a community atmosphere, welcoming experienced trail runners, novices attempting their first off-road race, and visitors who stop to see the local landmark, Notre Dame de Miery.
