The Nîmes Urban Trail centers on the Roman amphitheater, the Arènes, with the race village and weekend activities located there. Typically held in mid-February, this urban trail event takes place in Nîmes, within the Gard department of Occitanie, southern France. Known to runners as NUT, it offers more than just a single race; it covers running events, a 10 km hike, children’s races, and a festival atmosphere in a city rich with Roman history. The primary distances are 10 km, 16 km, 24 km, and 42 km, catering to both novice urban trail runners and those prepared for an extensive city and hill course. The routes highlight Nîmes itself: Roman arenas, ancient monuments, gardens, fountains, stairways, underground passages, and the hills overlooking the town are all incorporated. Certain sections traverse areas typically off-limits to the public, significantly adding to the event's allure.
