The Raid VTT Yssingeaux - Firminy is a 62 km mountain bike route from Yssingeaux in Haute-Loire to Firminy in the Loire, featuring approximately 1,200 m of elevation gain. It is positioned as an autumn ride focused on completing the course rather than a competitive race for top positions. There is no overall ranking, and participants depart at their own pace in the morning, with the day centered on finishing the route successfully.
The course follows rough country paths and tracks connecting the two towns, supported by three aid stations before a complete meal at the finish line. The organizers provide transportation from Firminy back to Yssingeaux for both riders and their bikes, a necessary service for this point-to-point event. Approximately 200 participants have entered across the available routes, primarily from Haute-Loire, Rhône, and Loire departments. Both traditional mountain bikes and e-bikes are permitted on the trails. The CLCS Firminy is the organizing body. The route's path is contingent on granted access to private land, and participants are requested to refrain from using these specific paths outside of the event's designated day.
