The Trail des Cascades begins near the castle in Roquefort-les-Cascades, a village in Ariège, southern France. The next edition is scheduled for early August. This event is a trail-running day, not a single race. Timed routes depart throughout the morning, alongside an 11 km hike featuring 500 m of elevation gain, and children’s races commence in the afternoon.
The routes traverse trails surrounding Roquefort-les-Cascades, Leychert, Roquefixade, and Ilhat. They then lead into forests, along cliffs, past castles, and by the waterfalls that lend the event its name. The more challenging routes are steep for their distance, with options around 15 km and 750 m of climbing, or 27 km and 1,500 m of climbing. The course also extends to the cliffs of the Massif de Plantaurel and the historic Cathar trail. Trail runners, walkers, and families are all accommodated within the program, and the races are part of the Défi Sud Trail series.
