The Trail des Costes begins in Vernègues, Bouches-du-Rhône. The 10 km races depart from the town hall esplanade in the morning. The primary event, La Panoramique, is a short, hilly run across the Costes massif, covering 10 km with approximately 350 to 360 metres of elevation gain. The schedule also features La Marche Romaine, a 10 km walk, and La Pitchoun', a 1 km race for children from baby athletics to minimes.
The course varies annually based on the organizing village, meaning the race, though established, is not confined to a single format. Starting from Vernègues, it extends through Alleins, offering participants a concentrated Provençal trail experience instead of a road race. Following the finish, the event continues in Vernègues with a race village, local producer stalls, and food vendors for families. Participants require a visible bib for aid stations, and a mobile phone is mandatory equipment.
