Urban trail arédien - Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche
The Urban Trail Arédien is an evening urban trail race held in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, a town in Haute-Vienne south of Limoges known for its medieval lanes and old stone streets. Participants begin at Villa Sport and can select from a 5.5 km run, an 11 km run, or an 11 km relay for teams of two. The shorter race consists of one loop, while the longer race covers two loops. A 6 km walk and non-timed children's races are also available, making the event suitable for local clubs, families, company teams, and runners seeking a brief, brisk town course over a lengthy mountain trail.
The course incorporates asphalt, paths, climbs, narrow streets, and stairs, with minimal easy road sections, requiring rapid pace adjustments rather than consistent effort. Pom'sy organizes the race, which has a participant cap of 400. The shortest race has an affordable entry fee. A refreshment stop is available during the run, and the evening concludes at the congress hall with a DJ, grilled food, and beverages. The event also features a challenge for the club or company team with the highest number of participants, fostering a team atmosphere even for solo runners.
Cazinight
Cazinight is a headlamp trail race held at night in October in La Souterraine, located in the Creuse department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Since 2012, the race begins in the early evening, requiring all participants to use a headlamp. Runners can choose from three distances: approximately 5 km, around 10 or 11 km, or a 20 km course.
The courses traverse the forest of Bridiers, adjacent woodlands, sunken lanes, paths, and some road segments near La Souterraine. Past editions directed participants from Plage du Cheix towards Domaine de la Fot and the Chateau de la Cazine, reflecting the race's consistent use of the region's dark trails, local history, and rural landmarks. The event is limited to 500 participants, and organizers advise carrying a mobile phone in addition to the mandatory headlamp.
Trail du PNR Périgord-Limousin - Bussière-Galant
Trail du PNR Périgord-Limousin takes place in Bussière-Galant, within the Périgord-Limousin regional natural park. The event began in 2018 and features a 36.5 km trail race, a 12 km trail race, a 3x5 km relay, and a 12 km hike. This structure accommodates long-distance runners, shorter-course participants, relay teams, and walkers.
The routes traverse paths in Bussière-Galant, Saint-Pierre-de-Frugie, Saint-Priest-les-Fougères, La Coquille, and Ladignac-le-Long. The 36.5 km course winds through the forests of Arsac, Vieillecour, Coubefy, and Charbonnier. Last year, over 420 individuals participated: 63 in the long race, 143 in the 12 km, 31 relay teams, and 124 hikers. Approximately one hundred volunteers supported the event along the courses.
Courir à Saint Junien
Courir à Saint-Junien is an autumn running event held at the athletics stadium on Rue Leo Lagrange in Saint-Junien. The program includes a 5 km race, a 10 km race, children’s races, and a solidarity walk, suitable for regular runners, beginners, families, and walkers.
The race focuses on a friendly local meet rather than an elite competition. Entry is 8 euros for the 5 km and 12 euros for the 10 km. The solidarity walk raises funds for France Parkinson.
Le trail de la voie romaine - Pierre-Buffière
Le Trail de la Voie Romaine is a trail-running event held in Pierre-Buffière, Haute-Vienne, within France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It offers routes ranging from 9km to 42km, taking place in October. The event is designed for off-road runners, featuring four race distances and a 12km nature hike.
The courses traverse the Limousin countryside near Pierre-Buffière, incorporating viewpoints, climbs, and descents instead of a flat, fast track. The primary event is the 42km Marathon Axter 87 TP, complemented by 26km, 16km, and 9km options. The 26km and 42km races are qualifiers for the UTMB Index. AGPB organizes the event, with volunteers providing support to participants on the course and at the finish line.
10 km de la ville de Saint-Junien
The 10 km de la ville de Saint-Junien is a road race held in Saint-Junien, a town in Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. It takes place in autumn and is organized by ASSJ Athlétisme. Adults can compete in either a 5 km or 10 km race, while younger runners have their own shorter events of 900 m and 1.8 km. The event welcomes a wide range of participants, from regular club runners to those seeking a friendly local race distinct from large city events.
The race begins at the athletics stadium on Rue Léo Lagrange, proceeding through a loop of the town center. Both adult distances share a similar course through the hilly town center, with the 10 km offering a longer iteration of this local circuit. Practical arrangements are straightforward and focused on the runners: official timing is provided by OK-TIME, with refreshments, changing rooms, and a live GPS tracking option available for friends and family to follow participants.
Courir pour le Téléthon - Saint-Just-le-Martel
The Courir pour le Téléthon - Saint-Just-le-Martel is a 7.5 km solidarity run in rural Saint-Just-le-Martel, focused on supporting the Téléthon. It welcomes runners of all abilities, accommodating those aiming for a fast time and those preferring a more relaxed pace. All proceeds benefit the Téléthon, providing the race with a distinct charitable mission beyond its competitive aspect.
The course consists of a 1.5 km loop completed five times, featuring gradual turns and predominantly fast, undulating terrain. Spectators can cheer on participants each lap through the village, ensuring the repeated loop fosters a social atmosphere rather than isolation. Following the race, participants enjoy a communal meal, contributing to the event's feel as a local community gathering rather than just a timed competition.
Le trail du dolmen - Ambazac
Le Trail du Dolmen begins at the Muret domain in Ambazac, Haute-Vienne, situated at the base of Mont Gerbassou. This trail-running series offers three distances: 25 km with 450 m of elevation gain, 11 km with 175 m, and 5 km with 75 m. The 25 km event is part of the Trail XS category, making it accessible for regular trail runners, not an extreme mountain ultra.
The event also accommodates participants not wishing to race. A 12 km hike at a free pace with 75 m of elevation gain is available, including a cani-rando option for walking with a dog. Entry fees are straightforward: 20 euros for the 25 km, 12 euros for the 11 km, and 5 euros for the 5 km, with registrations managed via Njuko.
Foulées du Populaire
Foulées du Populaire is a city road-race weekend in Limoges, Haute-Vienne, typically held in early April. Participants can select from 5 km, 10 km, and a Limoges half marathon, with additional races for children and juniors. The 10 km event also features a two-person relay, where each runner completes 5 km. The race village is located on Place de la République, Limoges's main pedestrian square, serving as the hub for starts, finishes, vendor stands, and weekend activities.
The course is a circuit through central Limoges, passing by Place de la Préfecture, the Gothic Saint-Etienne Cathedral, and the old city's paved lanes. This route offers participants a close view of a city known for porcelain, arts, and fire crafts, recognized globally as the porcelain capital and a UNESCO Creative City. The 10 km race attracts over 1,000 participants in some years, and the Foulées Roses 5 km event draws hundreds more for a charity run benefiting breast cancer research.
Foulées du populaire - Limoges
The Foulées du Populaire is a running series in Limoges, Haute-Vienne, offering distances from a free 900 m children’s race to a 21.1 km half marathon. The schedule also features 5 km and 10 km races, alongside women’s 5 km running and walking events. This variety accommodates children, walkers, beginners, club runners, and those seeking a longer road race.
The Foulées Roses 5 km begins at Place Denis-Dussoubs. Runners, joggers, and walkers are welcome to participate at a relaxed pace. Entry includes a pink event T-shirt, subject to availability, and a portion of each fee supports the Ligue contre le Cancer committee in Haute-Vienne. Children under 12 may enter without charge, but registration is still required. Bibs can be collected at Place de la République in Limoges during the race weekend.
Foulées de Verneuil - Verneuil-sur-Vienne
Foulées de Verneuil is a trail race held in late March in Verneuil-sur-Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The main event is a 10 km trail, described by organizers as a distance that unites participants, and it is the most popular choice.
The event is local, not a large festival: the previous edition had just over 200 participants. With a single 10 km trail option, it is suited for runners seeking a simple off-road race near Verneuil-sur-Vienne, without a wide selection of distances.
