The Round Sheffield Run begins in Endcliffe Park, guiding participants around Sheffield's green outskirts via a multi-stage trail enduro. It typically occurs on the weekend of the last Sunday in June, with a winter version also scheduled. Rather than a single continuous timed race, it comprises 11 timed stages totaling 20 km, separated by untimed intervals allowing for walking, recovery, and regrouping. Participants can compete solo or in pairs, accommodating fast club runners, elites, and newer participants seeking trail running without the pressure of racing every segment.
The course traces the Sheffield Round Walk, a 14-mile circuit through south-west Sheffield. Starting from the Hunters Bar and Endcliffe Park vicinity, it ascends the Porter Valley towards Ringinglow, descends through the Limb Valley and Ecclesall Woods to Abbeydale Road, climbs through Ladies Spring Wood to Graves Park, and subsequently passes Gleadless Valley, Meersbrook Park, and Chelsea Park. The timed stages function as 11 mini-races within the event, featuring a mix of ascents, woodland trails, parkland, and faster-flowing sections. Finishers receive their stage and overall times promptly, and the event supports Weston Park Cancer Charity. The post-race village continues the social atmosphere with food, draft ales, and a DJ.
