The Bükk Hegyikerékpár Maraton begins at the abbey area in Bélapátfalva, specifically the lower quarry yard, directing mountain bikers into Hungary’s Bükk hills. This marathon-style MTB race offers multiple participation options: recent schedules include long, middle, short, and mini courses covering 83 km, 58 km, 28 km, and 14 km, respectively, along with a 58 km pedelec category. The race is open to participants who agree to the regulations, attracting both dedicated marathon racers and individuals seeking a shorter off-road challenge.
The event is part of the XCM PRO TOUR and also serves as a round of the MKSZ Hungarian Cup, providing a strong competitive element for the leading participants. It is noted as Hungary’s most regularly held MTB marathon race. The weekend includes more than just the main races: participants can collect their numbers and chips prior to race morning, a technical briefing occurs before racing commences, the Bükk Outdoor Sport EXPO operates throughout the weekend, and younger participants compete in the Titán Kupa categories for U7 to U13. A pasta party is provided for finishers, with awards distributed on Sunday afternoon according to distance categories.
