The Voshaar 5000 is a small, speed-focused 5 km road race in Eibergen, limited to 100 participants. It starts from Voshaar Outdoor & Education’s base on Winterswijkseweg and offers a single, precise distance. Affiliated with the Atletiekunie, the course is measured and certified by the Dutch athletics federation, ensuring results count as official 5K marks. The event provides changing rooms, showers, parking, first aid, and an AED.
The route is predominantly asphalt and designed for fast times, with 500-meter markers aiding pace checks. While very quick athletes compete, recreational runners share the compact field, creating a local test atmosphere rather than a large festival. The inaugural race occurred in very warm conditions, a challenging start for a speed-centric event. The organizers' motto captures the spirit: "It's not the distance that kills, it's the speed."
