The Black Lake Race is a skyrace encircling Svartevannet, situated near Vågstranda in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The course immediately presents steep mountain terrain. It is designed for experienced runners, offering two distances within the medium trail category: a technical 29 km route and a more accessible 20 km option.
The 29 km course is the more challenging of the two, featuring 26 km on trails and 3 km on roads, with 2600 meters of elevation gain and three aid stations. Approximately half of this route is genuinely runnable, while the remainder requires scrambling and hiking. Runners are strongly advised to carry the GPX data on a watch, despite the course being marked. The 20 km route, while still a mountain race with 1300-1400 meters of climbing, provides participants a less technical approach to the rugged terrain surrounding the lake.
