Fagerhøiløpet starts and finishes at Fagerhøi, over 1,000 meters above sea level in Sør-Fron. This mountain running event takes place on the last Saturday in July, featuring a 13 km main race for participants over 16, a 6.3 km recreational option, and children’s races of 1,800 meters and 900 meters.
The main course consists of two loops, with the start and finish area positioned centrally. Runners pass through the event center again before continuing on the second loop. The path follows trails and gravel roads around Gudbrandsdalen Leirskole, in the mountainous region associated with Per Gynt. The field is small, maintaining a local atmosphere, with participation varying from a few dozen runners to approximately 150 people at the 40th edition. The participant medal is considered a key attraction, not merely a post-race handout.
