Galdane Rundt 2026

Galdane Rundt is a hilly 8.7 km cross-country loop on parts of the King's Road over Filefjell in Norway, typically held on the second Saturday in September. Lærdal IL's athletics group organizes it, maintaining a local, practical format where some runners compete against the clock, and many others participate in the recreational class. The route follows historic mountain roads instead of a flat road-race course, making the climb an integral part of the event. A typical field consists of just over 200 participants, with approximately 50 to 60 in the timed race and about 150 in the recreational class. Club runners from locations like Kaupanger IL, IL Gular, Hemsedal IL, Hyen IL, and Sandnes IL are often seen at the front, and younger runners have their own Rekrutt class. The race has been conducted over a dozen times, establishing it as a settled local tradition without the feel of a large-scale event.
