Åletjern rundt is the fifth race in the Stiløping for barn karusell, a free trail-running series for children in Grenland, Norway. It starts and finishes at the Åletjern parking area in Gulset and is a 3.0 km run, with the series split between races before and after summer. All races start in the early evening, and children can join from the age when they can run through the year they turn 14.
The series features marked forest and trail courses, with some climbing and descending, and room for both fast running and enjoying the outing. Confident children can run alone, while adults are welcome to run beside anyone who wants company. Registration is possible ahead of time or shortly before the start, reusable race numbers are handed back after the finish, and every finisher receives juice and a medal. The tone is deliberately relaxed, right down to the rule that jumping in the first puddle is allowed because muddy shoes are part of the fun.
