Wairarapa hosts the second of three "mini adventure races" in the Big Bang Dirt Duathlon Series, offering a distinctively unpolished off-road character: less polished race village, more map-checking and muddy shoes. The core concept is straightforward: the "top secret course" is unveiled only upon arrival, requiring participants to be prepared for both strategic thinking and physical exertion during the run and ride. You compete in teams of 2, 3, or 4, navigating "on foot and bike" through the challenges set by the organizers. Anticipate mountain biking, hiking, navigation, and genuine "team building" in a practical sense: determining routes, maintaining team cohesion, and conserving energy for the next uphill section indicated by a clue.
