Challenge Canberra is a triathlon race series held at Rond Terrace in Canberra, Australia. Racing takes place around Lake Burley Griffin and the city’s central parkland. The main long-course event is the Challenge 100, featuring a 2 km swim, 80 km bike, and 18 km run. An Olympic-distance race includes a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, and 10 km run. A sprint race offers a 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run. Aquabike options and a kids’ aquathlon (100 m swim, 1 km run) are also available.
The swim course is a single lap. The bike leg combines fast flat sections with climbs and rolling terrain. The run route passes through Commonwealth Park and around the Central Basin of Lake Burley Griffin. Canberra is already a destination for triathletes because of its bike paths, running trails, and accessible layout. The race serves as an introduction to longer triathlon events in Australia’s capital, while also drawing competitive age-group athletes through standard-distance triathlon and aquabike qualifying races.
