The Łapski Bieg Niepodległości is a local running event in Łapy, held near Poland's Independence Day and centered on the Waldemar Kikolski Municipal Stadium. It includes short children's races alongside an 8-kilometer OPEN race, accommodating school-age runners and adults seeking a longer run. The youngest children compete over 200 meters, older youth over 300, 500, or 750 meters, with the main race commencing after the junior events.
The start and finish are located at the municipal stadium, with the course incorporating a lap on the grass surface within the stadium. The patriotic element is understated rather than ceremonial: participants are encouraged to wear white and red, carry flags, or display national patches, and the anthem is sung collectively before the races. The event also promotes running, regular physical activity, and the Gmina Łapy, with local schools participating through their children who compete in various age categories.
