Makoska Dycha begins and concludes at the chapel in Makoszyn, a village within the Holy Cross Mountains of Poland. This September event, featuring running and walking, centers on a 10 km race. Recent editions have also incorporated a 7.2 km Nordic Walking march. The event is open to individuals 16 years and older; those aged 16 to 18 require written consent from a parent or guardian. Participants receive electronic timing, medical support, a commemorative medal, and a meal post-race.
The course utilizes Makoszyn’s asphalt lanes and forest roads, with kilometre markers along the 10 km route. The roads remain open to regular traffic, requiring participants to adhere to standard traffic regulations and stay to the right. Some accounts suggest a more challenging cross-country character than its name implies: forest paths, sandy ascents, and technical descents contribute to a demanding run beyond a simple village course. The event is coordinated by Bieliny Commune, the regional Holy Cross Mountains tourism and culture center, and Dream Team Around Łysa Góra. Traditional homemade soup is served after the race, offering a local flavor.
