The Swedbank Vilnius Marathon begins at Cathedral Square in central Vilnius, drawing thousands of runners into Lithuania’s capital each autumn. As the country’s largest running event, it offers distances from 5 km to the full 42.195 km marathon, alongside a 21.098 km half marathon, a 10 km race, a 200 m run for children aged 2 to 12, and a 3 km walking route named Swedbank Walk.
The route guides participants through Vilnius’s historic Old Town, along river paths, and down tree-lined avenues, utilizing some of the city’s most recognized streets instead of a closed sports facility. Elite athletes, club runners, amateurs, families, and international visitors participate together. Organizers provide practical additions like complimentary event-day life and accident insurance for participants, personalized bibs for early registrants, and shirts for the first registered children and marathoners.
