The Légua Diário de Coimbra is a 5 km urban road race in Coimbra, run on asphalt from Rua da Sofia to Praça 8 de Maio. The competitive race begins at 09:30, with a walk starting one minute later, accommodating both runners and those seeking a shorter city walk. The distance is precisely one Portuguese league, lending the race its name, and the program features categories from under-18 through masters.
The route crosses Rua da Sofia, the Baixa, and the Alta before concluding in a central Coimbra square. Diário de Coimbra, the city council, and the district athletics association co-organize the event, which is listed on the official World Athletics calendar. It also commemorates the anniversary of the Diário de Coimbra newspaper, revived after a 17-year hiatus, and serves as the district league championship. Registrations include a bib and T-shirt for early entries, while late sign-ups may not receive these items. Finishers are awarded a medal, small gifts, and food.
