Kia Fjällmaraton Week 2026

Kia Fjällmaraton Week is an eight-day mountain running festival in Sweden’s Årefjällen area, centered on Ottfjället and several nearby race bases: Trillevallen, Edsåsdalen, Ottsjö, Vålådalen, and Undersåker. It began in 2005 with 60 runners and now attracts over 3,500 participants in various races, from children’s events to long mountain distances. The Swedish name, Fjällmaratonveckan, is more fitting than a single race title, as participants stay for the week, often run multiple events, support other finishers, and spend considerable time amidst the atmosphere of muddy shoes and tired legs. The primary route crosses Fjällmaratonleden over Ottfjället, where the trails and mountain terrain are integral to the experience, not merely a backdrop. This series appeals to runners seeking a comprehensive mountain-running week as well as those opting for a single, shorter event. The distribution of locations provides the festival with a village-to-village ambiance. Early registrations contribute to funding trail restoration efforts managed by the organizers. Following finishes in Ottsjö, participants can utilize complimentary transfers in Kia electric vehicles for return to parking and onward travel.
