Kokava Trail begins and ends on Námestie 1. mája square in Kokava nad Rimavicou, a town in Slovakia’s Banská Bystrica region. It is a 78 km trail ultramarathon and long-distance march through the Veporské and Stolické vrchy mountains, with 3,300 metres of climbing. The race is run in early September and is part of the Slovak Ultratrail League, drawing both runners seeking an ultra result and hikers prepared for a long day or night in the hills.
The route is closely linked to Hriňovská stovka, the earlier 100 km event that preceded Kokava Trail; a significant portion of the course and the organizing team continue from that race. Kokava Trail also adheres to the broader local tradition of long-distance marches, including Utekáčska horská stovka and Podkrivánska šesťdesiatka. Slovak Ultra Trail manages the current version, maintaining a straightforward format: a challenging mountain route, substantial elevation gain, trail underfoot, and a single loop returning to the square in Kokava nad Rimavicou.
