Changing Lives in 915 8K RUN/5K RUN/1 MILE WALK
Changing Lives in the 915 is an El Paso charity event held in October, featuring an 8K run, a 5K run, and a 1-mile walk. This year's event moves the race to the evening for a 5:30 p.m. sunset run, a change from earlier editions that took place in the morning at Ascarate Park.
The event welcomes families and casual participants alongside runners, inviting all ages and abilities. Proceeds benefit the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation, with past fundraising also supporting the EPPD K9 Unit. Following the race, attendees can enjoy food trucks, local vendors, music, family activities, complimentary beer, and an after-party. One past event began with El Paso singer Elia Esparza singing the national anthem.
Stateline Run
The Stateline Run is a Saturday morning 5K race, with an option for a 1-mile walk, held in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The event begins at 8:00 am, utilizing Saint John Paul II Parish on McNutt Road as the start and finish line. This setup simplifies logistics by centering the day around a single, accessible location.
The race is designed for local runners, walkers, families, and teams. Entry fees are reduced for children under 12, and team registrants pay the same price as individual adults. The first 200 participants will receive a T-shirt. Upon finishing, participants are provided with water, fruit, and snacks. Awards for the 5K race are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as to participants in various age-group divisions, ranging from children to senior runners.
Day of the Dead - Day 1 and Day 2
Day of the Dead - Day 1 and Day 2 is a late-October race weekend held at the South End Trail Head of La Llorona Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This event is part of the Dead Running Series. Both days feature distances from 5K and 10K up through the half marathon, marathon, 50K, 100K, and 100 miler. All races begin at 7:00 AM, with an optional 6:00 AM start for those running the half marathon and longer distances. Walkers are welcome, strollers are permitted for participants with small children, and the event follows a “no runner left behind” policy.
The course is fast, flat, and paved, with a crushed gravel lane alongside. This setup suits first-time distance goals and personal-best attempts. The 5K and 10K follow simple out-and-back routes. The longer races repeat a 1.1-mile out-and-back section, passing a Super Aid Station multiple times. The marathon course is USATF certified and can be used as a Boston qualifier. Aid stations provide a wide selection of food and drinks, and runners can refill water bottles at a dedicated table. Each participant receives a T-shirt, and each finisher earns a medal for each day. Anyone completing back-to-back 50K, 100K, or 100-mile races gets a special Day of the Dead belt buckle and medal.
Annual Miner Dash & Family Fitness Fiesta
The Annual Miner Dash & Family Fitness Fiesta is a community race and fitness event at UTEP, featuring a 5K run and a 3K walk on the university campus. Organized by UTEP’s Department of Kinesiology, its purpose is tied directly to healthy living, not just finish times.
The routes traverse the UTEP campus, where the Bhutanese-style architecture provides a distinct setting beyond a standard road loop. Participants of all ages, including runners, walkers, and wheelchair users, are welcome, making the event suitable for families and community members as well as competitive racers. Event proceeds benefit programs developed by the UTEP Kinesiology Department.
Flying Horse Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The Flying Horse Half Marathon, 10K & 5K begins and ends at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino in Sunland Park, New Mexico. The event includes three main race distances and a Giddy Up Fun Run, with all races commencing in the morning and concluding by noon. United Way of El Paso County presents the event, sponsored by the City of Sunland Park, and Race El Paso manages the local race production.
The course takes participants onto Sunland Park trails, offering expansive New Mexico vistas before returning to the racetrack and casino. The event is designed for a diverse group, including novice runners, seasoned athletes aiming for personal bests, families, and children participating in the Fun Run on the racetrack. The initial 600 registrants will receive technical shirts and race merchandise. Race El Paso's background in organizing events has helped numerous individuals complete their first race in the El Paso area.
UP AND RUNNING Jingle Bell 5K Run/walk
The UP AND RUNNING Jingle Bell 5K Run/walk is a December morning 5K in El Paso, starting and finishing at Up and Running on North Mesa. It is open to runners and walkers, with an 8:30 a.m. MST start and a holiday-race feel built around a short, accessible distance.
The course begins and ends at the shop, with tamales and hot chocolate at the finish line. Awards go to the top three men and women overall, the largest team receives a trophy, and age-group medals are awarded from 9 and under through 80 and over. The first 600 registered participants receive a long-sleeve technical shirt, and proceeds support the Coach Nathan Casillas Cross Country Fund.
State 47 Las Cruces Marathon
The State 47 Las Cruces Marathon begins and ends at the Field of Dreams in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The race location is approximately 3,900 feet above sea level. This event is part of a winter race series featuring a USATF-certified marathon eligible for Boston qualification. It also includes a USATF-certified half marathon, a 4-person relay, a 4.7K run/walk, and a .47-mile kids' mini run. The theme connects to New Mexico being the 47th state, influencing even the shorter race distances with the number 47.
The course winds through the Las Cruces area, passing pecan orchards with views of the Organ Mountains and the Rio Grande River in the distance. Wanderlust Running organizes the event, which has sold out for multiple consecutive editions and attracted participants from all 50 states and 8 countries. Runners receive chip timing, custom finisher medals, complimentary professional photos, awards with local themes, and custom age-group awards. The marathon has a time limit of 8 hours, with an option for an Early Bird start for those needing more time, though this wave is not eligible for awards.
Sombra Antigua Wine Run 5k
The Sombra Antigua Wine Run 5k is a timed 5k run/walk held at Sombra Antigua Vineyard and Winery in Anthony, New Mexico, near the Village of Chamberino off Scenic Highway 28. It begins at 11:00 AM Mountain time and is designed for runners, walkers, and wine drinkers who share the same short course, rather than exclusively for a fast field.
The route utilizes the vineyard and winery setting as its primary attraction, with the race starting and finishing at 430 La Vina Road. J3 Timing provides chip timing and online results, and age-group awards will be presented. Registration includes a soft ring-spun cotton shirt, a portable shatterproof wine glass, a finisher medal that doubles as a wine stopper, a race bib, and a pour of wine after the 5k. Nik’s Wish is the local charity partner, and volunteers can register at a reduced race fee.
Cupid's Chase 5K El Paso
Cupid's Chase 5K El Paso runs from McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre on McKelligon Canyon Road, with check-in at 7:00 AM and the race start at 9:00 AM. It is a certified 5K with professional timing, immediate results, and a rain-or-shine setup. The race is part of a national February series tied to Valentine's season and the founding of Community Options, with money raised for housing and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
The El Paso race is built for more than fast runners: walkers, wheelchair participants, families with strollers, sponsors, and leashed pets can all join. The Cupid theme shows up in the registration colors, with white for single participants and red for taken ones. Awards go to the top three overall men and women, and age-group medals cover 14 divisions from 12-and-under through 70-and-over. Finishers may receive a Cupid's Chase medal and drawstring bag while supplies last.
Cupid's Chase 5K Las Cruces
The Cupid's Chase 5K Las Cruces begins and ends at Old Mesilla Plaza on Calle De Santiago in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This certified, chip-timed 5K takes place around Valentine's Day, with check-in in the morning and a 9:00 AM start. The event welcomes runners, walkers, wheelchair users, stroller participants, sponsors, and fundraisers, not exclusively competitive runners.
Community Options, Inc. organizes this race as part of its Cupid's Chase series to support individuals with disabilities. Leashed pets are permitted. Finishers receive a Cupid's Chase medal, participants receive a drawstring bag while supplies last, and early registrants can get the event shirt. Results are posted immediately after the finish, with trophies awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, and age-group medals given in divisions from children to runners over 70. The race proceeds regardless of weather, a consideration for February mornings in southern New Mexico.
Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, Raiz Federal Credit Union Half Marathon, and Spine & Rehab Specialists 5K Run/Walk
The El Paso race weekend features a Sunday marathon ending in Downtown El Paso, followed by a half marathon and a 5K run/walk. The marathon serves as the competitive core, qualifying participants for the Boston Marathon and contributing to the Abbott age-group championship pathway. The weekend also includes a Saturday kids’ dash and virtual options for all race distances.
The downtown finish echoes the conclusion of the first edition, offering runners a net downhill course that can aid them late in the race. The event attracts a diverse field, from local 5K participants to marathoners aiming for qualifying times. Past winners have advanced to compete in Boston and Abbott championship events. Participants have traveled from almost every U.S. state, along with international runners from countries like Mexico and France.
Super Run
The Super Run is a free 5K in El Paso, Texas. It starts at 8:00 AM Mountain time from 1234 Street St, 79936. Registration opens in March for this Saturday morning race.
The race details are minimal: the distance is 5K, the entry price is $0, and the start address is provided. No route map, terrain notes, field size, charity link, medals, or traditions are listed. This appears to be a straightforward local 5K, not a race with a documented history or unique course features.
