Anchorage RunFest is a two-day August race weekend in Anchorage, Alaska, offering start lines for long-distance runners, relay teams, 5K runners, and children. The events range from the United Physical Therapy 49K Ultra to Humpy’s Marathon and Marathon Relay, with a half marathon, 5K, mile races, and a Kids’ 2K also included. The longer races begin in the morning and have an afternoon cutoff, structuring the day around steady running rather than a short festival dash.
The race week hub is Delaney Park Strip at 10th and H Street, hosting bib pickup, a pasta feed, and a movie event. The 49K is for adults, while the marathon, relay, and half marathon are open to younger runners. The field includes serious ultra runners and families participating in the kids’ race. Anchorage RunFest is the largest event and main fundraiser for the Anchorage Running Club, a nonprofit. Proceeds support keeping the Kids’ 2K free, funding college scholarships for high school runners, and assisting local groups that promote running and exercise. The series has been running for 16 years.
