Deerfly Trail Race 2026

The Deerfly Trail Race returns runners to the woods at Carvers Creek State Park’s Sandhills Access in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This small October trail event features timed 11K and 6K races, both beginning in the morning. The participant limit is 200. The course is straightforward: choose the 11K or the 6K, park at the Carvers Creek access, and run trail miles within the state park. Dogs have their own timed 11K and 6K events starting shortly after the runners, adding a unique character to the race. The series is in its sixth year, features a new deerfly-themed logo annually, provides shirts and coins, and includes cash prizes for course records. Heckler Brewing Company is the sole sponsor, with packet pickup and a Friday evening gathering associated with the race weekend.
