Fort Clinch State Park defines this Florida Roots Trail Series race: runners complete a 10K loop within the park, selecting one loop for the 10K, three for the 30K, or five for the 50K. This annual trail event takes place on Amelia Island, and its 50K is the island’s sole ultra-marathon distance.
The loop combines shaded single track with a brief beach section behind the historic Civil War-era fort. Local runners form a significant portion of the participants, with over 110 in the recent running. The event also draws families and spectators to the park’s shared spaces. It has generated more than $8,000 for the Friends of Fort Clinch. The 50K's front can be fast: Wrigley Longstreet established the men's course record at 4:10, and Cason Zylinski won the women's race in 4:59, surpassing that record by seven minutes and securing her second consecutive 50K victory.
