Ironman 70.3 d'Aix-en-Provence is a middle-distance triathlon held in May, based in Aix-en-Provence, located in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of southern France. The event begins 20 km from the city at the lake of Peyrolles, then leads athletes toward a city over 2,000 years old, with stone squares, historic streets, and approximately 250 fountains. May typically offers mild racing weather, with temperatures frequently ranging from 12°C to 22°C.
The day starts with a 1.9 km swim in the 78-hectare lake of Peyrolles. This is followed by a 90 km bike course featuring a mix of flat roads, inclines, and challenging sections around Montagne Sainte-Victoire. The cycling portion ascends over 1,170 meters and incorporates the Col de Cengle, presenting a demanding ride through Provence. The half marathon consists of three laps between the city center and Parc naturel de la Torse, with spectator presence strongest near the Rotonde fountain. Beyond the race, Aix offers Cours Mirabeau lined with plane trees, cafes, shops, and eateries, alongside museums, galleries, theaters, the historic paved old town, and the Hôtel de Caumont.
