O wyścigu
IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy is a middle-distance triathlon held in Vichy, France, during August. It includes a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.2 km run. The course is situated around Vichy and Bellerive-sur-Allier, within a spa town located on the Allier River. This event shares the local IRONMAN weekend with the full-distance race. Late-summer weather is often warm, with average highs near 86°F (30°C) and water temperatures around 77°F (25°C).
The swim takes place in the river or Lac d’Allier. The bike leg proceeds into the Montagne Bourbonnaise, featuring a rolling, hilly 90 km. The run course is considerably flatter, crossing Vichy streets and the Allier River banks. Competitors travel from across the globe, and local listings also recognize the event within the National Long Distance Triathlon Challenge. Vichy’s historical designation as the “Queen of the Spa Towns” aligns with the race's focus: swim, bike, run, followed by recovery in a town developed around thermal baths and riverside recreation.
