O wyścigu
Yamba SKYRUN is a stair-climbing time trial held at Yamba Dam in Naganohara, Gunma Prefecture. The dam stands 116 meters high, and the race utilizes a 79-meter staircase with 316 steps, opened specifically for the event. As a skyrunning event in the stair-climbing discipline, the objective is straightforward: begin at the base, ascend the dam stairs with maximum effort, and aim for the quickest time.
The course challenges runners directly on a piece of infrastructure, unlike races that traverse towns or mountain paths. Yamba Dam is recognized locally as a new emblem of Naganohara. The event is organized in conjunction with Skyrunning Japan, Naganohara Town, and the Gunma Prefecture Skyrunning Association. It proceeds regardless of weather conditions, aligning with its minimalist structure: one dam, one staircase, 316 steps, and a direct confrontation with the climb.
