O wyścigu
The Furano Heso Marathon begins at the Sorachigawa River Children's Soccer Field in Yayoicho, Furano. Runners assemble by the Sorachigawa River for a midsummer race. The event is designed for a local field of up to 800 participants. Third-grade elementary students compete in a 2 km race, junior high students run 3 km, and adults can select from 3 km, 5 km, or 10 km races, with divisions by gender.
The course runs alongside the Sorachigawa riverside, keeping the race path near the river instead of extending through the city. Younger children may participate in a 2 km Kizuna Pair Marathon with a guardian. A 2 km Nordic walking option is also available, without timing. The marathon is linked to the Hokkai Heso Festival, Furano's belly-button festival, giving the event a local character distinct from a typical weekend run. Registration is available via Sports Entry or the Furano Sports Center, and the NPO Furano Sports Association organizes the event.
