Freyberg Pool in Oriental Bay is the starting point. The run goes out along the waterfront, turns, and returns to the same spot. Honest 10 is a monthly, straightforward event with a precisely measured course, a "relaxed, welcoming atmosphere", and sufficient "scenic harbour views" to make the steady sections pass quickly. The route is flat and simple, which is its purpose. It is suitable for walkers, beginners, social runners, and anyone seeking a clear "benchmark run" without complications. The out-and-back design also allows participants to see others running in both directions before finishing at the start line.
