The Rajecký maratón begins and ends on the main square of Rajec, a town in the Rajčanka river valley in northern Slovakia. This annual road race, located in the Žilina Region approximately 190 kilometres from Bratislava, features a full marathon, half marathon, a four-person half-marathon relay, an inline skating race, and children's runs of 400 metres and 2 kilometres.
The half and full marathons commence with a 2-kilometre circuit through Rajec before proceeding onto a country road that follows the valley into the wooded Strážovské vrchy mountains. The initial section involves a steady ascent, gaining about 100 metres for the half marathon and 200 metres for the full marathon, after which the course descends. Marathon participants turn around in Čičmany, a village recognized for its decorated folk houses. The shorter races and the relay accommodate families, teams, skaters, and runners seeking an event distinct from a large-city marathon.
