It is based near the 64th Street park entrance, with parking accessible via the First Landing State Park Boat Ramp. The first mile is on road, allowing the field to spread out before the route transitions to the trails. Most of the course is off-road, featuring roots, bridges, sandy sections, rolling terrain, and approximately 300 feet of climbing. Runners have four hours to complete the race. Entry includes a T-shirt, a finisher beanie, donuts from Glazed And Infuzed, coffee post-race, downloadable course photos, and awards for top overall runners, junior, masters, grand masters, and super masters categories. Winding Way Run Co. also uses the event to support AIDNOW with a donation.
