The Le Tour de Bowdoinham begins and ends at the Bowdoinham Food Pantry, located in Mailly Waterfront Park in downtown Bowdoinham, Maine. This grassroots charity bike ride takes place on a summer Saturday morning. Participants pay their entry fee with non-perishable food items or a cash donation to the local food pantry. Riders can select from three route lengths: approximately 11, 25, and 36 miles.
The routes traverse farmland and forest near the Kennebec River and Merrymeeting Bay, with rest stops and refreshments provided along the course. This event is a community ride, not a formal road race. Participants pre-register via BikeReg, use apps like Ride with GPS, Strava, or Hammerhead for route navigation, and ride at their own risk. The connection to the food pantry is central to the event, and event logistics are adapted to local conditions, such as adjusting parking when the Bowdoinham Farmers’ Market occupies the waterfront area.
