The Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass begins and ends at the Crandall Park Pavilion in Tolland, Connecticut. Runners will navigate the same marked trail loop for up to eight hours. The format is straightforward: complete one approximately 5K loop, run a few, or continue for as long as desired within the time limit. This is a community trail event, not a set-distance race with a common finish line.
The loop crosses wooded trails within Crandall Park and adjacent areas, with the pavilion serving as the hub for food, rest, and regrouping. The club provides basic grill items such as burgers and hot dogs, and participants and their guests are invited to contribute a dish, snack, or beverage for the potluck. Each loop finished grants a raffle ticket for awards like complimentary race entries and Shenipsit Striders merchandise. Additionally, concealed items found on the course can be exchanged for more tickets. The event also reflects the Shenipsit Striders' 50-year club legacy, bringing together long-standing members, recent participants, and local trail enthusiasts for a relaxed day.
