Snow Bull Trail Runs are winter trail races held at Camp Chet in Whitwell, Tennessee. The races start at 9:00 a.m. CT and offer three formats: a 21K, a 6-hour race, and a 12-hour race. Rather than a single point-to-point course, runners complete a 6.6-mile loop run clockwise. This setup simplifies support, pacing, and returning to the base area between laps.
The loop features a mix of singletrack and doubletrack trails, grass fields, mountain paths, and old mining and logging roads. Each lap gains approximately 1,600 feet, meaning the timed races accumulate significant elevation. The course is described as largely runnable with some moderately technical sections. Mad Cow Trek Club organizes the event. Camp Chet provides a full weekend experience: runners may preview the course Friday evening, rent cabins, tent sites, or onsite campers, and use these accommodations for changing, eating, and resting between laps. Post-race, showers and a communal fire area offer a straightforward place to clean up and socialize before retiring onsite.
