The TMC Old Tucson Trail Run is a morning trail event at Old Tucson Studios near Tucson, Arizona. It features an 8-mile run, a 4-mile run, and a 1-mile walk or fun run. The setting is the main draw: runners pass through the gates of an old frontier town and run past Western film sets associated with Hollywood productions and actors like John Wayne and Sharon Stone. The 8-mile race begins at 7:30 am, the 4-mile race at 9:00 am, and the 1-mile option offers families and younger children a shorter participation choice.
The 8-mile course starts and finishes near the Bitter Creek and High Chaparral sets. It utilizes a 2-mile loop within Old Tucson, a 4-mile section on Tucson Mountain Park trails, and another 2-mile loop back through the studio grounds. The 4-mile route remains within Old Tucson, looping through dusty streets, horse trails, and desert terrain. Participants of all abilities are welcome, Western costumes are encouraged, and the first 700 registrants will receive a souvenir shirt. Run Tucson produces the event as part of its race calendar, which includes 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, marathons, and RRCA-certified coaching.
