Sobre esta prova
The Furano Trail Run takes participants up Mt. Nishidake in Furano, Hokkaido. All races begin and end at Furano Ski Resort’s Kita-no-mine Terminal. This yearly trail race offers three distances: a 29km mountain course with 2,063m of elevation gain, a 10km course with 800m of climbing, and a 5km Family Adventure route. The 29km race awards 2 ITRA points, has an 8-hour time limit with checkpoints, and is limited to 200 participants. The 10km race also has a 200-runner cap, and the family event accommodates 100 teams.
The 29km route is considered one of Hokkaido’s challenging trail races, featuring difficult terrain on Mt. Nishidake and ridge vistas towards Tokachidake. The event's Hokkaido identity is reinforced by its bear safety protocols. Staff patrol the course pre-race and use firecrackers at key locations to indicate human presence, with lead runners deployed in certain sections on race day. Participants are required to carry bear bells, advised to bring a whistle or small bell, and instructed to avoid lingering alone in dense forest areas. This marks the event's tenth year, attracting a diverse field from competitive mountain runners to families enjoying the shorter course.
