Sobre esta prova
The Potato Relay Marathon is a charity relay held at AGF Field in Chofu City, Tokyo. Proceeds and attention are directed toward earthquake reconstruction efforts. The event features a 1-hour relay suitable for families, elementary school teams, and “Kizuna Teams.” A 3-hour relay is available for groups seeking a longer distance. Additionally, a free “Shopping Run” is offered for young children. The day is structured around teams and families, not individual competition. The venue is accessible from central Tokyo, a 25-minute train ride on the Keio Line from Shinjuku, followed by a 5-minute walk from Tobikyū Station.
The unique aspect of the relay is the “harvest time” during the event. When the MC signals, only the runner on the course may collect potatoes and other items. They must then carry these items back to the relay zone for their team to keep. The rules are intentionally playful: potatoes must be carried on the palm, not concealed in clothing, held in arms, or carried in the mouth. Costumes are encouraged, with a costume grand prize awarded. Further team events are scheduled. Timing is managed using IC tags, and web result certificates will be published once all teams have completed the course.
