MDC Challengers in Asahikawa, supported by Runners, centers on a 1000m race at Hanasaki Sports Park in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. The 1000m heats commence by category, with each category winner securing a spot in the MDC main event in Tokyo. A 5000m time trial is also offered for distance runners, though this race is solely for setting records and does not serve as a national qualifier. The fields are divided by age and gender, featuring U10 and U12 races alongside adult categories extending to 50+ for men and 40+ for women. The event extends beyond track competition: FM NORTH WAVE MC Jun Kato will be present, comedian and running advisor Takashi M is a guest, and the lunch break will feature a DJ set, dance performances, food trucks, and booths. Following the races, an interactive running session is open to all participants, and each entrant will receive an original event tenugui towel.
